The Interview

This is just another post that doesn’t quite fit into the ‘Sex Secrets’ category that this blog is to fulfil.

So I had my job interview last night, and I feel that it went rather well to be honest, I think I am a suitable candidate for the position they are looking to fill, and I would most certainly be happy to work for them.

They seem to provide an office that is flexible and will accommodate it’s workers needs and desires.  It may be a small company, but being in an office with about 50 other people from differing construction related companies gives the impression of being part of a much larger company.  I really like the sound of this company.

I’ve also been offered an interview with another engineering company, and I’m not really sure it is me, or at least that is my impression from their website.

So I really like the idea of working somewhere new, seeing different people each day, and working on new jobs on a regular basis, and not the same drudgery day-in-day-out.

I’m going out for lunch with my current boss to talk about my options in regards to working and getting paid at my current job, or leaving and seeking greener pastures.

Since Lunch

We had a bit of a discussion, mainly about the lack of money currently, and the fact that I would rather money regularly, than sporadically, and I’m half inclined to just run to one of the new jobs based upon the outcome and result of similar discussions I had with him almost 12 months ago.

Twelve months ago we talked about working the business towards a consistent cash flow, and in the twelve months since, it hasn’t really happened.  If anything, it seems to be more sporadic than anything else.  So I’m really concerned about my boss saying one thing, and then not working towards achieving that one thing.  Do I want a boss that promises something, and then fails to produce said promise?

It is also the same when it comes to clients, he says the report or plans will be ready by a particular date in the future, and when they haven’t been completed, or they were completed and he hasn’t checked to see if they are ready, he plays the sickness card rather than admitting he was/is at fault in not doing the work.

I’m also concerned that the majority of the work passes over my desk, whether it be to do the actual work, or to check the actual work.  I guess that shows that he respects my judgement when it comes to things, but at the same time, I’ve only been out of university for 12 months, and don’t wish to take on that sort of responsibility just yet.

Because most jobs pass over my desk, without me being there to check things, I don’t see how things will actually get done, he is a procrastinator type of person, & I guess that explains the above when it comes to finishing clients’ work.  Without me, I don’t see how I will be paid the money I am owed because I’m the one who pushes the most work that makes money through the office.  So without me, jobs would take longer, and I am less likely to get paid because I am not in the office producing work that earns money.  So I’m stuck in a dilemma of sorts.

If you have any bright ideas, or ideas I should share with my boss, please leave me a comment below.

Sorry for the confusing post, I’ve written it over a few different sessions, and before and after a conversation with my current boss.  So it probably should be split into two posts, a before, and after discussion.
